Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Infertility

In the four years it took me to become pregnant, I tried many treatments and took some breaks. Here I wanted to outline my experience of Chinese medicine and acupuncture and how it helped me to become pregnant.

My journey started like most women the worry, doubt and stress. Throughout my treatments I had this odd feeling something was not right. I have always had irregular periods. When I did treatments at the fertility clinic, my cycles never improved. They got shorter but the symptoms of pain, clotting and length did not improve to where I thought it should.

I met with Christine from Acupuncture Shiatsu Clinic. She was kind and thoughtful, I was skeptical like most who have the first time trying a new treatment. I read a lot of successful stories of acupuncture and thought why not give it a try. With 3 plus years in my infertility, I felt I had nothing to lose. My first consultation appointment was about an hour and a half. She asked about my treatments at the fertility clinic, and other questions pertaining to my lifestyle, period and symptoms. Then she examined my tongue and gave me a treatment plan. This included acupuncture once a week and herbs.

I started the treatment in the Spring, with the herbs. The herbs she provided were great, they were in capsule form and easy to take. The first month not much improved besides mood and energy. The second month my cycle became shorter, and I had one morning where the cramps were extremely bad, and I passed a large clot. This lasted an hour or so and once I passed the clot, I felt fine. I was concerned and confirmed with Christine of the experience. She informed me the herbs and acupuncture cleaned out old blood from my system and it is a common occurrence. After the second month my cycles improved tremendously. I was thinking to my self is this what my cycles should have been most of my life!  I should have attended to this sooner.

Fourth month came and I felt like a new person, my cycles where normal range and the bleeding was regular, no clots and ranged about 5 to 7days. I was so happy with the results and finally felt some progress. I still was feeling a bit down as a lot of articles I read with in the first 3 months they got pregnant from Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

My 5th cycle now, I had a feeling a disappointment as my cycle was late. I waited the right amount of time to take a pregnancy test and the result was negative. I went to my brother’s house a couple days later to can beets. My brother has a boxer dog who loves pregnant women. While I was there, he was all over me the whole 2 days. This was odd and I had this gut feeling I was expecting. So, the Monday I woke up and took a test and there it was the positive sign. At first, I was shocked, and in disbelief from waiting four years for this stick to say yes.

I was pregnant and carried my beautiful baby girl to full term!

From my experience I suggest to women to try anything when it comes to infertility. The journey of infertility felt long but along with Chinese medicine, acupuncture to become pregnant please click the link for my whole journey with other treatments for more information.   With the improvement to my cycles, I also suggest to women who have irregular cycles to see Chinese’s medicine doctor with acupuncture training.  I couldn’t believe the difference and hope this will help others.
